Rio de Bicicleta
Não é preciso adivinhar o futuro para compreender a importância da bicicleta. O escritor inglês H. G. Wells, precursor da ficção científica, explicou melhor que ninguém: “Sempre que vejo um adulto de bicicleta, volto a confiar no futuro da raça humana”. O Rio foi a primeira cidade brasileira a implantar uma ciclofaixa — hoje tem 320 km delas. Um convite a um roteiro sobre duas rodas, seja em passeios guiados que apresentam aspectos da cidade que o próprio carioca desconhece, seja em bares, restaurantes, centros culturais e outros lugares amantes das magrelas, que as incorporaram ao seu cotidiano.
— Na bicicleta não existe maquiagem. Passamos pelo bom e o mau, tanto pelo Pão de Açúcar como pelas pessoas pedindo (dinheiro) nas ruas. Não existe forma mais autêntica de conhecer a cidade — defende Bruno Elias, guia e criador do projeto Bike In Rio, um circuito de passeios guiados por diferentes lugares que atrai moradores e turistas.
Pense numa excursão de ônibus, com paradas contadas aos minutos e a pressão típica do tráfego de veículos motorizados. Agora pense num passeio que é, em tudo, oposto a isso. Assim é o cicloturismo. O percurso com mais sucesso do Bike In Rio começa e acaba no Hotel Copacabana Palace, onde se pode conversar e fotografar com calma. Em três horas, passa-se pela praia de Botafogo e pelo Aterro do Flamengo, lugares onde ônibus não podem estacionar ou, sequer, reduzir a velocidade. Em vez de simplesmente tentar ver o monumento a Estácio de Sá, o guia Bruno leva o grupo rampa acima e fala da fundação da cidade pelo militar português ali enterrado.
— Não se trata de um tour histórico, mas de um passeio com curiosidades. O atrativo está na presença natural da cidade — explica o guia, que estima em 90% os pedalantes estrangeiros, curiosos para saber da comida, das favelas, da história e do povo.
O único trecho em que não se usam ciclovias é na Urca, onde o guia conduz o grupo serpenteando pelas calmas ruas do bairro. Além desse passeio (que acontece às segundas, quartas e sextas), o Bike in Rio promove outros entre Ipanema e Lagoa, entre Cinelândia e Lapa e por todos os circuitos de uma vez.
Outra que oferece passeios contemplativos — mas cheios de mimos — é o Bike VIP Club, empresa de Clide Zelazo que se especializou no cicloturismo de luxo, com bicicletas novas, serviço de transporte, mecânico, lenços umidificados, brindes de champanhe a meio do caminho e, por que não?, um campeão ciclista como guia. Os tours só acontecem com agendamento, e os clientes podem decidir o percurso. Os mais populares são da Lagoa à Urca (passando por Ipanema e Copacabana) e, na Zona Oeste, da Prainha a Grumari.
Na contracorrente está Horácio Júnior, um apaixonado velocista que oferece passeios sem qualquer custo. Na Via Pedal, ele cuida de tudo: desde atender o telefone a guiar o grupo e, em caso de avarias, consertar as magrelas. O projeto começou em 2006, para promover excursões fora do Rio, estas, sim, pagas.
— A Via Pedal não é para o estrangeiro, é para o carioca que tem uma bicicleta e não sai de casa. Quero que as pessoas cresçam como ciclistas, desde passeios fáceis, como na orla, a um nível pesado, como na estrada do Sumaré — explica Horácio.
Seus roteiros se destacam sempre pela originalidade, como, por exemplo, a pedalada noturna e a pedalada selvagem, por montanhas cariocas. Outro sucesso é a pedalada fotográfica, na qual o ciclista tem de procurar o melhor local a fim de captar uma imagem do passeio. O site da Via Pedal tem um calendário dos roteiros.
— Não andava desde os 14 anos, peguei a bicicleta do meu filho e fui numa pedalada noturna do Horácio. Com o tempo, descobri como a bicicleta é uma forma diferente de ver a vida e, sobretudo, como une as pessoas — revela Márcia Dias, que passou de engenheira elétrica a esportista e ciclista em tempo integral.
Não parou por aí: Márcia deu início a um projeto totalmente dedicado à sua nova paixão. O Café na Roda, no Engenho de Dentro, é uma loja de venda de café gourmet que convida os ciclistas a deixarem a bicicleta no interior. Além de perseguir o selo “bike friendly” no estabelecimento, Márcia estará todos os dias em Copacabana e Ipanema montada num triciclo, onde vai vender esse mesmo café.
O Centro do Rio e a Zona Portuária lideram o processo de expansão do projeto de aluguel de bicicletas, e o Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), na Praça Mauá, já ganhou uma estação. A ideia é que mais de duas mil novas posições sejam oferecidas.
Criado por dois holandeses que moram no Rio, o Rio by bike é um serviço voltado para estrangeiros. É possível agendar os passeios, entre tour urbano, Lagoa, histórico e eco-favela, no site.
Atentas a essa demanda por transporte ecológico, diversas lojas de bicicletas agora alugam magrelas, como a Special Adventure, no Leblon, ou o Bike e Lazer, em Ipanema. E o próprio cliente ciclista tem novas exigências. Bons exemplos estão no Comuna, em Botafogo, e na boate La Paz, na Lapa, que permitem o estacionamento em seus pátios. O La Paz até dá desconto a quem for de bike: o ciclista entra na lista amiga. Já o bar de tapas Ibérico, no Jardim Botânico, a TT Burguer, junto à Galeria River, e a pizzaria Vezpa do Leblon estrearam bicicletários e convidam a galera a chegar pedalando.
Nos parâmetros de H. G. Wells, a população do Rio tem futuro. No entanto, ainda existe muita gente que considera enfrentar as ruas cariocas uma atividade radical. Para ajudar os novatos, o projeto Bike Anjo não só mostra o melhor caminho a fazer de casa para o trabalho como ensina a andar propriamente de bicicleta.
